Northern New Mexico College and RDC to Offer Free Linemen Camp

Both women and men can get into the electrical distribution trades!

ESPAÑOLA, NM — The Northern New Mexico College (NNMC) Trades department and Continuing Education/Workforce Development program have partnered with the Regional Development Corporation to offer a FREE Linemen Training Camp to prepare participants to be job-ready for expanding opportunities in the electrical distribution trades.

Linemen are critical to today’s power generating industry, responsible for construction and maintenance of the nation’s power grid. Through 80 hours of in-person training —including hands-on lab instruction—participants will learn basic lineman skills, become OSHA 10 for Construction certified and receive coaching to determine their pathway to a career in the industry. Trainees are eligible to receive up to four college credits from the NNMC Branch Community College.

The camp runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18 – 29 at the Welding Center on NNMC’s Española campus. Open to anyone 18+ who is fit for the industry. All participants must be vaccinated and wear masks. Tools and materials are provided, but students must wear suitable work boots and attire. Enrollment is limited.

All participants must commit to two weeks of training. Job placement assistance is available upon completion.
